Who cares if you get to your ‘goal weight’ if it means you’re not happy? Or maybe it’s not a change in weight that you’re after. Maybe it’s money  or influence or a better job. It all applies. Who cares if you get any of those things if you’re not enjoying a general sense of well-being on a regular basis?

Did you know that creating more happiness in your life can be simple, cheap, and pretty darn easy to do? Lots easier than losing weight, changing jobs, moving to a better area, or improving your relationships.

Here are my top three recommended resources for helping you develop a set of “daily happiness habits” that will help you get more enjoyment out of your life.

TINA’S TIPS

  1. Watch Shawn Ancor’s TED Talk: The Happy Secret to Better Work (about 12 minutes long) and try out his five suggested happiness habits, all of which can be done in 15 minutes or less, although you might want to take longer on some of them.
  2. Read The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky and take her quiz to see which of 12 scientifically-proven activities would be most likely to help you produce more happiness in your life. Then read up on your top 3-4 activities and give them a try for a while to see if they work. For an overview of the 12 activities, read Sonja’s blog post “Is It Possible to Become Lastingly Happier?”
  3. Sarah Klein and her health coaching programs. She’s all about self-connection, self-care, and knowing that health is more that what’s on your plate or what you weight. She helps people practice good self-care habits like
    • getting enough sleep
    • exercising
    • drinking lots of water
    • eating whole foods including lots of vegetables
    • surrounding yourself with positive people, and
    • cultivating a positive mindset

In the next post, I’ll share my personal happiness habits, most of which will fit within any time schedule.
